- Albany, GA (1888PressRelease) January 14, 2013 - Global Emissions Offset Corp. (GEOC) has recently announced on their blog http://www.geoc.ca that they have signed a five year Aggregation Agreement with the Kikino Metis Settlement to initiate the business practices of aggregating historical crediting of carbon credits from agricultural tillage protocols under the Alberta Specified Gas Emitters Regulations (SGER) program. In addition the parties will be evaluating all available Carbon Offset aggregation opportunities including those that will be available under global Voluntary standards. The goal of the Agreement is to generate all the available Carbon Credits for the Kikino Settlement using Government of Alberta best practices guidelines for aggregating and verifying carbon offsets.
"The signing of this agreement marks an important milestone in our endeavours to bring all Metis Settlements into the Carbon Offset program here in Alberta and we plan to work with Kikino to maximize both Alberta Compliant Offsets as well as any Voluntary Offsets that may be generated from projects jointly identified by the parties," said Dan Pacholik, President of Global Emissions Offset Corp.
"The Metis people have long been protectors of the environment and it only seems natural that the Metis should embrace a program that rewards those that provide good land stewardship and agricultural practices, we are excited to see what new initiatives we might be able to foster as a result of the aggregation of bankable carbon offsets," stated Floyd Thompson, Chairperson for Kikino Metis Settlement.
