Glide Foundation Raises Funds with Give by Cell Text Message Donation Campaign at 1st Annual Legacy Gala
San Francisco's the Glide Foundation raised $460 in one evening through a Give by Cell text donation campaign at their recent Legacy Gala.
- (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2010 - SAN FRANCISCO, Calif - Social justice nonprofit the Glide Foundation debuted a Give by Cell text message donation campaign at September's 1st Annual Glide Legacy Gala.
The Gala was a black-tie affair to honor founders Janice Mirikitani and the Reverend Cecil Williams, with over 300 young twenty- and thirtysomethings who had paid $65 to attend the event.
During the course of the evening, Board Chair Amy J. Erett made a call for text message donations, and nearly 30% of the guests used their cell phones to text in a $5 or $10 donation. By the end of the evening, the Foundation had managed to raise a total $460 through mobile giving.
"We were thrilled at the success of the Give by Cell mobile giving campaign," said Joyce Sood, Communications Manager at the Glide Foundation. "The young and tech-savvy audience was exactly the right fit for mobile giving, and having our Board Chair take out her phone and ask for donations really seemed to work!"
