Funds to help scale first social style network where every item is shoppable and everyone is rewarded.
(1888PressRelease) September 16, 2015 - Founding partners Stephanie Sprangers and Gisella Walter today announced that Glamhive, a trend-setting new social media platform, has secured first round funding of $946,000. Seattle investor and entrepreneur Jonathan Sposato led the round, with participation from early Facebook employee, Marc Kwaitkowski, the Seattle Angel Conference, and several other angel investors.
"We created Glamhive to unleash the inner fashionista inside everyone who visits the site. As social networks evolve to capitalize on the content generated and shared by their users, we are fundamentally changing how users are treated," said Gisella Walter, co-founder. "Networks, retailers and brands understand the power of user-generated content to create brand affinity and drive sales. Glamhive is the intersection between users and brands, the place where they meet. We are the first to give rewards to those who power this exchange."
Glamhive is the first social media platform to tie shared photos with rewards. The platform's tagging technology enables users to quickly create "shoppable" content by uploading their look, then tagging individual pieces. Glamhive's simplified interface makes it extremely easy for people to buy the things they want and provides direct purchase value to retail brands.
"Glamhive hits on all the critical success factors I look for as an angel investor," said Jonathan Sposato. "I believe that the time is right for a new social media platform that benefits the user community by rewarding them, while also seamlessly driving commerce. Quite frankly, I wish I had thought of Glamhive."
What makes Glamhive unique is an industry first loyalty program. Users who share and tag their looks and styles on Glamhive earn rewards when other users make purchases after viewing their look. This loyalty offering is unique because Glamhive is the only social commerce company that rewards users on both sides of the social shopping equation: the people who share and the people who shop. This combination will drive both quality content generation and sales. Glamhive Points are then redeemable for gift cards to the world's top retail and fashion brands.
"We are offering something new to social media; something beyond what others have tried," said Stephanie Sprangers co-founder. "This round of funding enables us to accelerate the growth of our company, maintain our momentum, enhance our innovative platform and expand our audience and retail partnerships."
