Giving Back: Belzona Supporting Local Community
Belzona Corporate Development Director, Kim Svendsen, has commented: Business results from the first quarter of 2015 have been great and we decided to invest some of that profit into our local community. We hope to continue to offer our support to these charities as well as raise awareness of their outstanding work.
- (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2015 - A leading company in the design and manufacture of polymer repair composites and industrial protective coatings has been supporting charities local to its technology centre in Harrogate, UK for several decades. More recently, Harrogate Homeless Project, Harrogate & Ripon Centres for Voluntary Services and The Forest School in Knaresborough have recently received charitable donations in support of their amazing work.
Founded in 1991, Harrogate Homeless Project helps vulnerable people move onto independent living, including a No Second Night Out Scheme introduced in 2012. The scheme provides emergency service, working with other agencies to support the person into sustainable accommodation, reconnect them with family or friends and help them find employment.
Harrogate & Ripon Centres for Voluntary Services provide information and advice to support the running of charities and community groups, match up people who want to volunteer with hundreds of local groups and provide services to vulnerable people living in the community.
The Forest School in Knaresborough is a local authority maintained school for pupils with special educational needs. They aim to help each pupil achieve success regardless of their disability and provide an inclusive educational experience for all pupils appropriate to their special needs. In addition to academic teaching and learning, their provision includes an extremely broad range of activities outside the school during the school day, after school, and during the school holidays. Headteacher, Peter N Hewitt, commented: "Donated funds are gratefully received and will go towards the purchase of a wheelchair accessible minibus to enable us to continue with school activities. We are committed to ensuring that all our pupils have the same opportunities regardless of their disability, and therefore replacing our wheelchair accessible minibus is essential for us to achieve this."
Established in Elland in 1952 Belzona has since grown vastly into a multinational business, yet it recognises its duty to give back to the local community in Harrogate and Yorkshire and support causes close to the hearts of Belzona's stakeholders.
