Ginger Software, Inc., introduces a redesigned interface, better performance, and improved functionality for the beta version of Ginger Software®.
(1888PressRelease) March 04, 2009 - LEXINGTON, MASS. – Improvements Enhance Performance of Ginger Software Interface and Functionality
Ginger Software, Inc., introduces a redesigned interface, better performance, and improved functionality for the beta version of Ginger Software®. A free, downloadable software program designed for struggling writers of all ages, Ginger Software uses patent-pending technology to correct spelling mistakes and misused words automatically in a familiar Microsoft Word-based environment.
Designed to improve the overall performance of Ginger Software, the upgrade offers faster correction and new features to enhance the user experience. These include a redesigned interface that allows the user to move and resize the correction panel. In addition, Ginger Software now checks the entire document, stopping only when an error is detected. Faulty spelling and misused words can be corrected with a single click, or replaced with an alternative term selected from a drop-down list.
“Since our launch in October, we have successfully deployed 10 school pilot programs, and thousands of people have downloaded our program,” said Yael Karov, founder and CEO of Ginger Software. “We will continue to improve Ginger Software during the beta test period, to provide children and adults the support they need to improve their written communication. Through Ginger Software, people gain the ability to create error-free texts independently, in a positive, encouraging environment.”
Unlike spell checkers that require users to address each error, Ginger Software corrects multiple mistakes within a sentence simultaneously, providing a faster, more efficient way to work. When the context is ambiguous, Ginger Software provides carefully selected alternatives, each paired with a sample expression so the user can consider the differences and make an informed choice. Moreover, Ginger Software analyzes the context of each sentence to remedy mistakes that other spell checkers often miss, including correctly spelled words that are used improperly.
Additional features will be added to Ginger Software during the beta test period. The program currently detects spelling mistakes and misused words, but will soon evaluate grammar as well. A text-to-speech utility is also in the pipeline, which will enable users to hear sentences before and after correction. In addition, progress reports will be available to analyze progress and identify areas where help and practice are needed most.
Ginger Software runs within Microsoft Word for Windows, and requires an Internet connection. The beta version of Ginger Software is compatible with MS Word 2003 and 2007 running under Microsoft Windows. Once downloaded, the program is installed as an extension to MS Word, providing an integrated interface that connects to the company’s server over the Internet. In the near future the company will release versions that support MS Outlook and web browsers.
