Gil Tippy and Rae Leeper of Rebecca School Celebrate Successful Presentation at ICDL 2014 International Conference
Rebecca School's Gill Tippy and Rae Leeper recently gave successful presentation on the school's curriculum and its effectiveness in working with children on the autism spectrum.
- Binghamton, NY (1888PressRelease) December 20, 2014 - The Rebecca School team continue to spread the word about the school's progressive approach to education and success working with children with neurodevelopmental delays of relating and communicating. Most recently, Gil Tippy and Rae Leeper presented at the Interdisciplinary Council for Development and Learning's (ICDL) 2014 International Conference discussing the the way that a DIR/Floortime curriculum meets the requirements of the Common Core Standards, can be executed without great difficulty, and, most importantly, is very effective with kids on all levels of the Autism Spectrum.
"The Rebecca School utilizes the Developmental Individual Difference Relationship-based (DIR) model and we were very happy to discuss the model at ICDL's 2014 International Conference," commented a spokesperson from the Rebecca School. "The DIR methodology, developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan, proceeds from the core belief that relationships are the foundation of learning. Academics at the Rebecca School foster a child's ability to relate, communicate, and think. Our academic program focuses around the student's passions, interests, and lived emotional experiences. Teachers create individualized lessons to address both the developmental and interest levels of each student."
According to the school, they offer a full year curriculum on a Monday to Friday schedule, acting as a therapeutic day school for children ages 4 to 21. The school is located at 40 East 30th Street, New York, NY 10016.
Feedback for the school has been resoundingly positive.
J.H., a parent from New York City, recently said, "The Rebecca School has been a real blessing for my child. The progress he has made since attending is remarkable, and we couldn't be happier about our decision to send him to the school. The DIR Floortime method is something really, really special. If you have a child with autism you owe it to them to take a tour."
