Gico Music's Recording Artist John and Gina Carey to Open for Rose Royce benefiting the National Legal Aid and Defender Association
UK Soul Chart toppers John & Gina Carey to open for 70 Pop/funk band Rose Royce at Groovin' for Justice, an equal justice fundraiser.
- (1888PressRelease) September 14, 2011 - With Gina Carey hitting the #1 spot on the UK Soul Charts and her husband guitarist John Carey closely following, charting at #8 , This talented married couple have been invited by the NLADA to be one of the artist to open for Billboards R & B Pop Chart toppers, 70's funk band Rose Royce. Rose Royce is known for their "Car Wash' movie soundtrack with hit singles, "Car Wash", "I Wanna Get Next To You" and "I'm Going Down". This event will take place on October 2, 2011 and be held at the beautiful Riverside, CA. Rancho Jurupa Park (Pecan and Acorn Shelters). 12 pm - 6:00 pm. This charitable event will be hosted by Mr. Gary Windom, Law Offices of the Public Defender, Riverside County and Irene Morales, Inland Counties Legal Services.
The Carey's will grace the stage at 1:00 pm for an electrifying 45 minute live performance in support of NLADA. This talented couple will be performing all original songs both written and produced by them from their new chart topping CD releases "New Beginnings" (by Guitarist John Carey) and "Melodic" (by Soul Singer Gina Carey). Fans have compared John and Gina Carey's onstage performance energy to Hidden Beach Records", "Kindred and The Family Soul" and Ashford and Simpson but with a new school smooth Urban Soul/Jazzy twist.
Chicago native, John Carey is an accomplished multi genre guitarist/singer/songwriter/composer/ arranger and producer. He has recorded several CD's ranging from Smooth Jazz/ blues to R&B. His previous projects included "Take a Little Ride," "Doves of Paradise" and "Xperiance preferred." And has latest album release "New Beginnings." He has also opened for Natalie Cole, George Benson, Earth, Wind & Fire, Ledisi, Warren Hill, Queen Latifah, Brian ulbertson, Boney James, Mindi Abair, Norman Brown, Al Jarreau, Buddy Guy and Gerald Albright and many others.
Also a native of Chicago Gina Carey formally known as Gina Green is an experienced singer/songwriter/and producer. She began her musical recording career in 1996 as a Contemporary Gospel artist. Her first three albums, "In His Time," "Changes" and "Tell Um" were Gospel projects. Her latest CD's "My Journey" and "Melodic" were released in the Soul genre. In 2006 Gina won "Best Gospel Performer - Female" at the Las Vegas Black Music Awards and in 2008 her "True Love" music video aired on BET J on the "Morning Cup Show." Gina has also opened for many nationally know recording artist including PAJAM recording artist Gospel recording artist J Moss, The Pointer Sisters, Actress Jane Kennedy, The Late Buddy Ebsen, The Boys, Victor Bell and Halel, The Mary Jane Girls, TBN's Bill and Rene Morris, Shanice Wilson and many others.
The proceeds from this event will support The National Legal Aid& Defender Association (NLADA) and honors their 100 years of delivering justice to those who cannot afford counsel. 'Groovin' for Justice' will feature the soulful and 70's music of three southern California greats, Rose Royce, Delaney & Jaymes and John & Gina Carey. Supporting this event will enable NLADA to redouble its efforts on behalf of 25,000 professionals and 2,500 community organizations that provide legal aid and public defender services to our nations low income people.
