Ghost Hunting At A Mystery Commercial Property In Middlesbrough, With Simply Ghost Nights, 25th April 2014
Local legend as it that there have been passer-by's looking into the shop window on Linthorpe Rd window shopping and there has been someone in Victorian dress stood behind them in the reflection in the glass this has been well documented locally.
- (1888PressRelease) April 06, 2014 - Some parts of Middlesbrough have changed beyond all recognition over the years. Linthorpe Road being one of the earliest main roads through the town centre. Up until 1934 there would have been trams running up and down this busy street, which has now made way for what is now a busy road.
Most of the buildings along this stretch of road date back hundreds of years so its no surprise that some of them harbour ghosts. Simply Ghost Nights were called in by one such shop to investigate the ghostly goings on there and after spending just one night there, we decided this would make a perfect addition to our evens page.
The building comprises of a vast ground floor area, as well as 2 further floors which appear to have been servants quarters at some point in history. There have also been suicide and murders recorded at this location too.
All we know about the recent history of this location is that it was Blockbusters before it became it's current use and a pawnbrokers many years ago too. It is a Victorian property which was owned initially by someone very wealthy, with servants quarters etc, before becoming a commercial property as it is today.

Paranormal activity and ghost stories at the property consist of that the property at some point has been a children's home as many sensitive pick up on children and people in the building regularly hear children's footsteps running above them from the back to the front of the shop . Toys often go off in the toy box on their own and objects regularly get moved around.
The proprietor of the shop has had her trouser leg pulled in there several times. The smell tobacco and lit matches are curiously smelled in there regularly, this is smell is attributed to a spirit called George when you smell tobacco then you know George is about. On previous investigations it is said that George apparently was a paedophile who looked after the kids in the home, but used to regularly abuse them. This is why it is felt that you can hear kids footsteps running as they are running away from him. You often smell a really dirty smell when he is around.
Also shadows have been seen walking past the scan room and big heavy doors slamming on their own. some time ago a ghost hunter called Jamie was laying carpet on the back stairs and every time he knocked a nail in he was getting taps back. On the top floor martial punch pads are known to be hit and the punch bag as been seen swinging when walking into the empty room.
There is a female spirit called Jess comes through on the board regularly and she had an affair with a male spirit called Barry who seems to prefer the top studio. She told a group once via an Ouija board that Barry had her killed off in a car accident because of their affair.
A man called allegedly Victor hung himself on the top floor and a guest had what appeared to be a rope burn around his neck, the guest said that he felt as though he was choking.
