German BfR Rubber Commodity Recommendations Revised
SGS publishes SafeGuardS on amendments to three BfR recommendations for natural and synthetic rubber commodities.
- (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2024 - SGS, the world’s leading testing, inspection and certification company, has published SafeGuardS 143.24 to provide stakeholders with more details of updated German recommendations for natural and synthetic rubber commodities.
The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung, BfR) issued three revised recommendations in September 2024. These were:
• Recommendation XXI ‘Commodities based on natural and synthetic rubber’
• Recommendation XXI/1 ‘Commodities based on natural and synthetic rubber in contact with food’
• Recommendation XXI/2 ‘Special consumer goods made of natural and synthetic rubber and of lattices made of natural and synthetic rubber (formerly special category)’
Each new recommendation contains several updates, compared to the previous iteration, and should be regarded as effective immediately.
SGS experts publish SafeGuardS to keep stakeholders informed about changes that could impact their ability to operate. SafeGuardS 143.24 includes a table summarizing the recommendations and detailing highlights of the updates. It also has information on the three different categories of product that come into contact with food.
