Throughout our time in the White House, Laura and I were sustained by support from friends like you. With your help, we advanced hopeful and effective policies rooted in the ideals of freedom, opportunity, responsibility and compassion.
Since returning home to Texas, Laura and I have been hard at work developing the George W. Bush Presidential Center. In addition to housing my Presidential Library and Museum, the Bush Center will include a policy research institute - a first for a presidential library. The Bush Institute will be home to scholars and policy experts who will work with Laura and me to advance powerful ideas and sound principles through research, scholarship, and results-oriented programs.

When President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated the first presidential library, he said it would be grounded in the capacity of the American people 'to learn from the past, that they can gain in judgment in creating their own future.' I have the same goal for our new Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas.
