Genesys Works-houston Names Marian Davenport Executive Director
Genesys Works, a national nonprofit organization headquartered in Houston, today announced the appointment of Marian Davenport as executive director of the Houston office.
- Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) April 03, 2013 - Davenport comes to Genesys Works with extensive experience in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors. For more than eight years, she held executive positions with Big Brothers Big Sisters, initially as President and CEO of the Greater Houston agency, and then as Senior Vice President, Operations and Capacity Building after the 2010 merger that created Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star.
"Marian has deep roots in Houston, and brings a broad range of management, strategic and operational skills to Genesys Works," said Rafael Alvarez, Genesys Works founder and CEO. "As we continue to expand to major cities around the country, Marian's leadership of our Houston office is critical to our continuing success."
Davenport previously held executive legal, commercial development and other management positions in the energy industry. Her experience includes positions with Dynegy Inc., Destec Energy, Inc., PSE Inc. and Cameron Iron Works, Inc.
Davenport serves on the Public Service Sector Committee for Neighborhood Centers Inc. and on the Board of Directors of the Fourth Ward Redevelopment Authority. She is a Big Sister in the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program, a member of the Greater Houston Partnership Executive Women's Partnership Committee and a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum's Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter.
Davenport is a graduate of Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Sciences. She holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver, College of Law and is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
