  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2013 - After several months of development, a set of 13 grammar videos created by GCFLearnFree.org has been released to the public. The videos are available both on GCFLearnFree.org's site and on the organization's YouTube channel.

The quirky and entertaining grammar videos, which are part of GCFLearnFree.org's GCF Labs segment, delve into some of the most common mistakes made in grammar today. The 13 videos cover topics like "than vs. then," "it's vs. its," "bare vs. bear," "your vs. you're" and "compliment vs. complement." Videos average one minute in length and are designed to be memorable experiences to help viewers clearly remember the differences between these commonly misused words.

"After launching our Reading program in 2010, our users immediately began asking for grammar lessons," says Matt Robinson, GCFLearnFree.org's coordinator of distance learning. "It's easy to see why. At any given moment, native English speakers are butchering the language and they don't even know it."

To offer some clarity on these commonly misused words, GCFLearnFree.org decided to explain them in the simplest of terms in a way that all people could understand, regardless of age or skill level. In order to accomplish this goal as effectively as possible, the staff at GCFLearnFree.org made the videos entertaining, using stop-motion animation and silly humor to help illustrate the proper use of these words.

"We hope these videos stick in people's minds so they never forget how to use them in the future," Robinson says. "We wanted to do something unique and fun while also serving an educational purpose, and we believe we've done that with these videos. The proof can be seen on our YouTube channel, which already has a positive response."

Lessons eventually will accompany the series of uniquely styled videos, which are available here: http://www.gcflearnfree.org/labs/grammarvideos.
