Event Synopsis:
The business landscape has been a common ground for cyber-related threats such as hacking, data theft, and privacy infiltration. Such threats are perilous for many companies. Hence, it is of utmost importance that businesses and their counsel are familiar and well-versed with the existing statutes governing anti-hacking and privacy protection.
Anti-hacking and privacy rights are intensified through federal laws such as the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), Stored Communications Act (SCA), Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA), and the Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA). These laws establish and promote heightened regulation on privacy protections and data security. However, these acts also include parameters that businesses must be wary of to avoid legal liabilities.
