Garvey Schubert Barer announces that Owner David Smith has been appointed co-chair of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) Criminal Law Section for the Western District of Washington.
- Seattle-Bellevue-Everett, WA (1888PressRelease) February 10, 2011 - In this role, Smith is responsible for continuing legal education programs for FBA members and serving as a liaison to federal judges, prosecutors and defense bar attorneys.
Smith practices in the areas of white collar criminal defense and complex civil litigation. He conducts internal investigations on behalf of clients and represents companies and individuals on a broad array of criminal matters ranging from investigation through trial by jury. Smith also defends companies, their owners and management in parallel civil litigation arising from allegations of misconduct.
In addition to the FBA, Smith is a member of the American Bar Association's White-Collar Crime Committee and previously chaired the White-Collar Crime Committee for the Defense Research Institute. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, J.D. (1979) and his B.A., cum laude, from Pacific Lutheran University.
