- Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) May 02, 2014 - Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP attorneys, staff members and friends joined together on April 26 to take part in the 2014 Dallas Bar Association Home Project Build Day in South Dallas benefiting Habitat for Humanity.
In partnership with the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity, the Dallas Bar Association sponsors a new Habitat home build each spring. The DBA has partnered with Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity since 1991 to build homes for deserving families in the community.
Gardere has participated in the annual event since 1994, raising more than $130,000 collectively. The Firm's 2014 fundraising efforts were led by Partner James C. (Jim) Scott. Gardere was once again the lead donor with funds totaling over $23,000 - the largest donation in Firm history.
"I am unbelievably pleased with Gardere's fundraising efforts and participation this year to benefit Habitat for Humanity," says Mr. Scott. "Gardere is helping build Dallas to make it a better place. It is rewarding to know our contributions will improve the lives of families in our community."
This year's event was the 23rd anniversary of the Dallas Bar Association's participation in the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity. The effort began when the DBA decided to adopt a community service project that would motivate, inspire and benefit the Dallas community. The DBA has raised more than $30,000 so far this year, putting the DBA well on its way to meeting its goal.
Since its incorporation in 1986, the Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity and its contributors have served over 1,400 families and revitalized more than 25 neighborhoods. Dallas Habitat has also built community centers, elder-friendly duplexes, formed neighborhood associations and developed after-school programs in neighborhoods it serves. Its mission is to create feelings of hope, dignity and self-worth for families in Dallas County.
