Gardere Partner Beverly Godbey Awarded Presidential Citation by State Bar of Texas
Gardere Wynne Sewell litigator Beverly Godbey has been presented with a State Bar of Texas Presidential Citation.
- Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) July 12, 2012 - Beverly B. Godbey, a partner in the Dallas office of Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, has been awarded a State Bar of Texas Presidential Citation in recognition of the "wisdom, skill, and dedication" she demonstrated during her term as Chair of the State Bar of Texas' Board of Directors.
Ms. Godbey, a prominent Dallas litigator, began her one-year term as Chair in June 2011, following a three-way race for the position.
"It was such an honor to serve as Chair of the Board of the State Bar," says Ms. Godbey. "I really enjoyed working with President Bob Black and cultivating friendships with the other directors from around the state."
In addition to her active litigation practice, Ms. Godbey is committed to enhancing the role of lawyers in society. She was the 2011 Anti-Defamation League's (ADL) Larry Schoenbrun Jurisprudence Award recipient. The Schoenbrun Award is presented annually to civic-minded legal professionals who promote fair and equal justice and demonstrate a devotion to the principles of the U.S. Constitution.
Ms. Godbey is a past president of the Dallas Bar Association and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. She is a life fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Dallas Bar Foundation and a member of the Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Defense Research Institute, International Association of Defense Counsel, and American Law Institute.
As a member of Gardere's Trial Practice Group, Ms. Godbey's practice focuses on insurance coverage and recovery, commercial litigation, ERISA, and non-subscriber matters, among other areas. She was recognized in the May 2012 edition of D Magazine as one of "The Best Lawyers in Dallas" and has earned repeat recognition on the Texas Super Lawyers listing. She is rated AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5 by Martindale-Hubbell®.
Ms. Godbey graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Southern Methodist University and earned her J.D. from Tulane University Law School. She is married to the Hon. David Godbey of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.
