Many MMOs have similar features such as faction vs faction PvP, instanced dungeons, three main character classes (healers, tanks and DPS), combat abilities, and so forth. According to Johnson, "The upshot of this is that players can actually enjoy the same gameplay as that of the top subscription games but for free."
In the video game world similar games are called clones. For example, there are Tetris clones and Doom clones. The best WoW clones list simply identifies which MMOs are like World of Warcraft. Some of the clones are almost identical to WOW in terms of gameplay and user experience. There are even a few which have superior graphics. The list is updated every month.
