Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) August 20, 2012 - Gail Buckner supports the Candler Park Initiative.
State Senator Gail Buckner, often referred to as the "people's candidate," recently affirmed her promise to redirect the Candler Road location of the old flea market.
"Our community deserves to see the Candler Road flea market property used in the best way possible. I am continuing my efforts to advocate for a workforce development training center at this site that will enable the community to help citizens strengthen their knowledge and skills for today's market."
Often referred to as the Candler Park Initiative, Buckner envisions the center also being a great location to host southeast regional events, such as a Georgia Native Plant sale.
"We need to consistently look for opportunities that address needs of the community, utilize available resources and work progressively," said Buckner.
Senator Buckner is in a heated run-off with Gail Davenport. Buckner actually defeated Davenport for the Senate District 44 position in 2008 who was the incumbent state senator at that time. During Davenport's term, the Clayton County School System lost its accreditation.
Buckner has based her campaign on her record of achievement during the eight terms that she served in the Georgia House of Representatives. Kennis Harrell, the retired DeKalb County Assistant Police Chief, has endorsed Gail Buckner.
"Senator Buckner is the right choice to continue on as our next Senator. She has fought to prevent foreclosures, and fraudulent home repairs. She protects our citizens."
"I have been honored and humbled to serve our citizens in both the Georgia House of Representatives and Senate. I believe in the honor of public service and I want to improve the quality of life for all our citizens," said Buckner.
Buckner is the only candidate in the run-off with a 100% attendance record at community-sponsored candidate forums.
