GéNIA Returns to the Concert Platform with the Launch of her New Classical Chillout Series
GéNIA marries her two great loves - piano and yoga - at The Red Hedgehog in London on 17 May, in a piano recital with a difference.
- (1888PressRelease) April 23, 2012 - To date, Russian virtuoso pianist, GéNIA, has made a name for herself on the UK classical music scene as a trailblazer in the field of contemporary music, with various releases on the Nonclassical label and collaborations with names such as Nik Bartsch, Max de Wardener, Carl Vine, Gabriel Prokofiev and Howard Skempton. An enigma to both the music and business worlds, GéNIA has always sought to reinvent tradition and stir up convention, and she is equally at ease on the stage of the concert hall or the night club.
GéNIA's new 'Classical Chillout Nights' series is another new concept in classical concerts, but also a natural progression from her 'underground' heritage to a more recent commitment to yoga. Now a trained yogini from the British Wheel of Yoga, GéNIA has been taking the piano media by storm with her latest venture, Piano-Yoga®: a lifestyle approach to piano education rooted in holistic principles and the promotion of well-being. Having now grown her method into a piano school offering tuition, yoga and holistic piano therapy, GéNIA's Classical Chillout Nights are envisaged as a way to give audiences a more in-depth insight into the Piano-Yoga® philosophy and the yogic power that music has to heal, calm and foster positive energy. Throwing aside the usual stuffy protocols of classical music concerts, the audience can kick off their shoes at this exclusive event in the intimate surroundings of the Red Hedgehog, sit back with a glass of wine and nibbles, meditate and unwind to some cool classics guaranteed to soothe mind, body and soul, from timeless classics by Beethoven, Bach and Mozart to 20th-century classical anthems by the likes of Cage, Glass and Tiersen.
