Funded By Me is a tool for fundraising and commitment using social networks for crowdsourcing and crowdfunding. Funded By Me launched to public on March 1st 2011.
- (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2011 - Fundedbyme.com is a Swedish crowdfunding tool, inspired by American sites such as Kickstarter, Sellaband and IndieGoGo, where users can present their projects and visitors can choose which projects they want to help finance. Fundedbyme.com was activated March 1th 2011 and the response, both from founders and project creators, has been great. One project has already reached 26% of its funding goal. The phenomenon known as "crowdfunding" has, globally, struck it big in the recent year, and we see that the need for additional or alternative funding models is enormous.
Funded By Me uses PayPal as payment method, making the site a global tool from day one. Through Funded By Me all sorts of creative people can seek funding for their projects, and also build networks around their ideas, dreams and visions.
The concept of crowdfunding (user financing); that many people give small amounts of money to something they like or believe in, is in itself nothing new. Just think of how the construction of churches has been funded through small donations from local communities. But thanks to Facebook and other social networks, communities today have become global, and both easier and faster to reach. Through social platforms on the internet, many people today have a network of hundreds of contacts - from family to colleagues to friends' acquaintances. It is this network as well as complete strangers who could be the potential funders of projects.
The concept of crowdfunding and microdonations can help realize projects that in other ways never would have been able to find financing. The project creator chooses a funding goal for the project, a time frame of 10-90 days and explains through text and / or a presentation video who they are, what they want to do and what they need.
