Fuentek Partners With Knowledge Investors of Spain To Educate European Clients On Tech Transfer
Fuentek To Provide Tech Transfer Webinars To Spanish Universities.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) November 16, 2011 - Laura A. Schoppe, president of Fuentek, LLC (http://www.fuentek.com/), a local technology consulting firm that provides intellectual property (IP) and technology transfer services, has announced that the firm has partnered with Knowledge Investors, a company headquartered in Vigo, Spain, to provide joint consulting and training services to the company's clients in Europe. Knowledge Investors collaborates with universities, companies and investors to generate and develop business opportunities within the fields of science and technology, with the goal of increasing the return on investment in research and development (R&D) through technology transfer. Fuentek will begin by providing a series of webinars to Knowledge Investors' clients on various tech transfer topics, including technology screening/triage, open innovation, and proactive IP management.
With this alliance, Knowledge Investors seeks to open the doors of the North American market to its Spanish customers. Approximately 60 percent of global IP transactions take place in the U.S. market, which operates as a platform for launching technology and scientific products into the global market. While Spain has managed to find niche markets for its scientific developments, the economic return on its investments in R&D is far behind, as is evidenced by the latest data published by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Fuentek anticipates this alliance will help improve the country's status in scientific return on investment.
QUOTES:
"Initially Fuentek will be working with Knowledge Investors on capability building for tech transfer offices in Spain," said Schoppe. "Knowledge Investors is an established firm with an existing client network of tech transfer offices within universities and government offices, and we are pleased and honored to partner with them."
"This alliance is our contribution to solving this problem of enormous relevance to the economic future of Spain," said Carlos Álvarez, partner director of Knowledge Investors and a consultant working with research centers and companies in the valuation and transfer of research results. "In creating this alliance with Fuentek, we are collaborating with a relevant player in the North American market with extensive experience in the field of technology transfer practices."
