From Mossy Creek To Jefferson City Author Duo Team Up To Honor The History Of City In New Book
Jefferson City is the subject of new book. Through over 200 vintage images, many donated from private collections of local residents, the book tells the story of Mossy Creek and how it came to be known as Jefferson City.

Jefferson City, written by local authors Linda T. Gass and Albert L. Lang, sheds light on the rich history of this city and how it came into being. Through over 200 vintage images, many donated from private collections of local residents, the book tells the story of Mossy Creek and how it came to be known as Jefferson City. "The willingness of so many to contribute images to this book helps illustrate what makes living in Jefferson City such a unique and enjoyable experience," said Lang and Gass.
From 1788 when Adam and Elizabeth Peck arrived on the banks of Mossy Creek, to 1901 when the town was changed to Jefferson City in honor of Thomas Jefferson, to present day readers will see how Mossy Creek developed and evolved into the historical, scenic town it is today. "We hope that our book will bring back wonderful memories of past days in Jefferson City and the wonderful people who helped make it such a special place to live. We also hope it will help fan the flame of the revitalization process that has begun with the Mossy Creek District Alliance." said Gass and Lang.
