C2Call (http://www.c2call.com/) announced today that its FriendCaller (http://www.friendcaller.com/) service has reached the 1 million user mark in 12 months, as it lets anyone make a free call by clicking a link sent via email, IM, social networks, blog or websites. With more than a half million new users turning to the service in the last two months, FriendCaller has maintained its ranking in the top 25 free social networking apps on iTunes since June.
FriendCaller is the first browser-based Internet phone solution that can turn emails, social networks and any Internet-ready device, such as the iPod Touch or iPad, into a phone - without the need to download, register or exchange user IDs. The service lets anyone make a call by clicking a uniquely assigned link included in an email, IM, website, blog, Twitter post, Facebook update, or any other social network site. Clicking the link instantly connects the caller to the recipient via the browser.
Friends and family can connect with FriendCaller for free, or for only 2 cents per minute via land lines and cell phones from the U.S. to over 35 countries. Unlike other VoIP services, FriendCaller does not require your friends sign up to make a call.
C2Call has generated more than $2 million in revenues since April 2010. The company earlier this month announced that it had raised $2 million in Series A funding from a group of VCs that includes one of Skype's original backers.
"FriendCaller's numbers speak for themselves: From the 1 million user mark to the 15,000 new users a day to its ranking in the top 25 free social networking apps in the iTunes store, FriendCaller is winning over everyone who wants a straightforward, effortless VoIP solution," said Martin Feuerhahn, founder and CEO of C2Call. "FriendCaller is designed to remove the hassles from browser-based calls by eliminating the need to download and register, making a call just a click away."
