- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) February 17, 2011 - FretRest Stands has announced that it is providing guitar stands for all of the guitars to be auctioned for the benefit of Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre. The selection from Eric Clapton's personal collection includes more than 150 guitars and amps valued from $300 to $30,000.
FretRest is supplying guitar stands for the London, Los Angeles (Feb 18 - 20) and New York (Mar 5 - 6) preview locations, as well as the final New York-based auction taking place on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. The previews and auction are being conducted by Bonhams. The Crossroads Centre was founded by Eric Clapton in 1998 and offers substance abuse and alcohol rehabilitation.
Brian Harsh of FretRest commented, "We are honored to be invited to support this benefit for Eric Clapton's Crossroads Centre and are confident our stands will enhance the presentation of these unique instruments. FretRest's involvement is a natural extension of our current marketing campaign which features Eric Clapton's legendary BLACKIE Stratocaster, among other iconic guitars."
Auction highlights include one of Clapton's main stage guitars from 2005, which formed one of a pair he memorably used during the Cream Reunion Shows in London and New York - a custom built black Fender 'Eric Clapton Signature' Stratocaster, estimated at $20,000-30,000. In addition, several custom prototype guitars are being offered, such as a white Martin valued at up to $20,000 and a 1948 Gibson L-5P estimated at $20,000-30,000.
The auction also includes guitars generously donated by famous musicians such as Jeff Beck, J.J. Cale, and Joe Bonamassa. For more information on the auction, visit bonhams.com/.
