Freshened 2013 Volkswagen CC Revealed, headed to L.A.
Mid-cycle refresh for the 2013 Volkswagen CC revealed and headed to the L.A. Auto Show for debut.
- Detroit, MI (1888PressRelease) November 04, 2011 - Launched 4 years ago as a 2009 model, the 2013 Volkswagen CC was the first four-door coupe for the people. With a base price of about $28,000 it was the only car of its kind this side of $60,000. Fast forward a few years and others have joined the segment. Cars at the bottom like the Hyundai Sonata and Kia Optima and even the big dogs at the top with cars like the Porsche Panamera, Audi A7, and Aston Martin Rapide.
Exterior
2013 will see modest changes for the Volkswagen CC. Cosmetically these include new front and rear styling which give the 2013 CC a more luxury look to blend with its sporty lines. Up front is the new corporate grill that most resembles the 2012 Volkswagen Passat. On the flanks of the grill are new bi-xenon headlights, static cornering lights, and LED daytime running lights (ala GTI/Eos/Tiguan/Touareg). New horizontal fog lights (as opposed to the round ones on the earlier models) finish out the work up front.
Out back is also some LED treatment for the taillights. Here they resemble a similar shape and lighting pattern of some of the recent Audis. The rest of the exterior stays very similar as the coupe shape and low roof-line continue from before.
Interior
The interior of the 2013 Volkswagen CC see minimal changes as well. New HVAC controls with an easier layout and digital temperature readout are new. Taking cues from the 2012 Passat here as well. Also, new choices of wood trim are added here too. I expect to see the new Fender audio system replacing the current Dynaudio offerings as well.
Technology
As for as some technological changes, Volkswagen is adding a new fatigue detection system and new safety head restraints which allow for longitudinal adjustment. Also new is Side Assist Plus with integrated Lane Assist which is just a fancy way of saying a blind spot monitor. Dynamic Light Assist for automatic high beam control is new here to. To round out the tech changes are a new camera-based traffic sigh detection system and the addition of a massage function for the front seats.
Power
Nothing has been reported of any powertrain or drivetrain changes so what that means is the current 2.0T TSI motor making 200hp will be standard on the lesser models with the 3.2L VR6 motor making 280hp being standard on the Executive trim. Also the same is the choice of either a 6-speed manual transmission or Volkswagen's smooth shifting 6-speed DSG dual-clutch automated manual. Let' hope that this information changes as its release draws nearer.
