FreightCenter's Volunteer Program Makes Huge Impact on Local Non-Profits
Employees contribute more than 300 hours to "Cash for Caring" program.
- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) January 26, 2013 - FreightCenter.com, an online freight shipping service provider, is proud to announce the contribution of more than 300 volunteer hours to local non-profit organizations. FreightCenter's "Cash for Caring" program takes places annually between November 1 and January 31.
FreightCenter's CEO and Co-Founder Matthew Brosious began the workplace volunteer program in an effort to help both his employees and local non-profits during the holiday season. "The holidays can be a trying time for many non-profits who need to provide additional support services within our community," said Brosious. "It's also a time when everyone could all use a little extra spending cash for our families."
Employees receive $12 for every volunteer hour. This year FreightCenter paid out nearly $4,000 to its employees, up from $650 the previous year. More than 25 FreightCenter employees participated in the program. Benefiting organizations include The Suncoast SPCA, West Pasco Habitat for Humanity, The Women's Recovery Center of Tampa Bay, The Salvation Army, Moon Lake Outreach Facility, BIKERSCAP, Feeding America Tampa Bay, The Volunteer Way, Toys for Tots West Pasco, RAP House Youth and Family Alternative and The City of New Port Richey.
Many FreightCenter employees vowed to continue volunteering throughout the year, and the participating organizations were happy to have the extra support.
"We would not be able to build homes for people at such a low cost if it were not for people like FreightCenter's employees," said Karianne Stalnaker, volunteer coordinator for West Pasco Habitat for Humanity. "The FreightCenter employees that we have had the privilege to work with have been hard workers with excellent attitudes and are always excited to help."
FreightCenter also participates in several other community programs throughout the year. The company recently donated more than $1,500 worth of donations to Toys for Tots West Pasco and 300 pounds of canned food to Feeding America Tampa Bay. FreightCenter has increased next year's goal to 500 hours, and expects its employees to continue volunteering throughout 2013.
