Freight Forwarder Delivers 'Love In A Box'
An interesting press release about the freight forwarding company Morrison Freight delivering 'love in a box' to disadvantaged children.
- (1888PressRelease) December 12, 2012 - Morrison Freight, the Suffolk-based freight forwarding company, is making this a memorable Christmas for orphaned children in Ukraine and Moldova, by delivering shoe boxes filled with presents.
For the past 10 years Morrison Freight has worked with the Christian charity, Mustard Seed Relief Mission, as part of the 'Love in a Box' campaign. The project sees more than 50,000 gift-wrapped shoeboxes, filled with presents travel either 1500 miles from the UK to Lebedin in Ukraine or 1700 miles to Cahul in Moldova.
Morrison Freight moves a variety of different goods for various industries including agricultural machinery and construction & plant equipment to and from mainland Europe. The company moves approximately 250 trailers throughout Europe a week, however during November the freight forwarder swaps some of its usual loads for shoeboxes. Each box is packed with age and gender in mind and individually received by an under privileged child.
Lee Steward, Operations Director of Morrison Freight commented; "We really enjoy helping Mustard Seed each year and are proud to be a part of the 'Love in a Box' campaign. It's good to know we are making Christmas better for so many children by delivering these gifts. It's over-whelming to still see so many donations even though people are experiencing their own financial issues here in the UK".
Mustard Seed begins collecting boxes at the end of October which are donated by schools, businesses, churches and individuals. By November, Morrison Freight transports pallets of presents to ensure the boxes arrive in time for Christmas.
For Moldova, customs formalities are completed at Dover which allow the trucks to travel for 6 days through 7 European countries before arriving at a nominated Romanian/Moldavian border point.
It is here the trucks are met by British charity workers where additional customs formalities have to be completed before arriving at the final destination and offloading point. The boxes bound for Ukraine transit through Belgium, Germany and Poland where they enter Ukraine at Lvov. Again, the English distribution team meets the trucks and travels with the shoeboxes a further 690 miles to the final destination in Lebedin.
