- Milwaukee-Waukesha, WI (1888PressRelease) March 12, 2014 - Estamos Aqui, is a vivid and compelling collection of contemporary prints, by Mexican-American and Latino artists, featuring brilliant colors and sometimes startling imagery. The artwork featured in this extraordinary exhibit, invites the audience to ask questions about the nature of the cross-cultural exchange leading the artists to find their voices, and express themselves through this specialized silkscreen print technique. Speaking from the Latino/Chicano perspective, many of these artists share their personal experiences, celebrations, sorrows, challenges and popular culture through these impressive works.
This traveling Exhibit, organized by the University of Arkansas, Little Rock, and Mid-America Arts Alliance-ExhibitsUSA, http://www.eusa.org/exhibit/estamosaqui) brings the complicated blend of languages, ethnicity, and cultural heritages together, representing the common theme of the American story. The subject matter varies from the sharing of food contributing to cultural understanding, to the celebration of traditions providing a sense of place and identity.
