Fourth Annual Boulder Startup Week Slated for May 15-19
Twenty-four qualified job seekers will receive free airfare to Boulder to meet with hiring companies and participate in the week's events.
- Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) April 05, 2013 - Boulder, Colo.-April 4, 2013- Boulder Startup Week 2013 will be held May 15-19, featuring dozens of networking and business education events and the opportunity for 24 job-seekers to apply for free airfare to meet with Boulder companies.
More than 1,100 people participated in last year's Startup Week, which featured more than 60 events over five days. The average participant attended five events during the week.
Capstone events for 2013 include Ignite Boulder at the Boulder Theater (May 15), startup demo Boulder Beta (May 16) and a Variety Show May 17 to showcase Boulder's performing arts community.
"By having a large number of educational and networking events -- and all but the capstone events are free -- we are able to share best practices, brainstorm new ideas, and support the growth of startups in Boulder," said Rich Maloy, one of this year's event organizers.
Number of "Fly-In" Job Seeker Opportunities Doubles for 2013
In addition to events, 24 qualified candidates from across the country will be selected for free airfare to participate in Startup Week and interview with Boulder companies. This year's emphasis will be on bringing in front-end, back-end and full-stack developers. Twelve people flew in last year, and three have relocated to the Boulder area.
Sean Helvey was a "Fly-In" for Startup Week 2012 while working toward a master's degree in computer science at New York University and now lives in Boulder.
"I was amazed at the tech community in Boulder," he said. "There were so many smart and friendly people here. I knew as soon as I finished my degree, I'd be back -- and now I am."
