Fountains Center's Holiday Family Fun Day Raises Funds For American Cancer Society
Events like the recent Fountain Center's Holiday Family Fun Day and other community partnerships play a vital role in rallying the community together to raise funds and awareness in the fight against breast cancer.
- West Palm Beach-Boca Raton, FL (1888PressRelease) December 21, 2012 - It was a picture-perfect Sunday in mid-December when hundreds of people from the local community came to the Fountains Center office and retail plaza in central Boca Raton to support the American Cancer Society's South Palm Beach Unit/Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. The Fountains Center hosted the Holiday Family Fun Day featuring an array of children's rides and activities, food tastings, tenant displays and gifts, and more.
The non-profit's volunteers were there in force, collecting donations and helping to sell raffle tickets, which raised funds during the festive afternoon. Fountains Center's owner provided the activities, as well as the grand prizes (a 46" flat screen TV, three-day cruise-for-two to the Bahamas, and two IPad Minis) that went to several lucky winners. One hundred percent of the proceeds went to the American Cancer Society.
Kids enjoyed riding on a train and swings, sliding down a giant blow-up ship, scaling a rock climbing wall, frolicking in a bounce house, riding Shetland ponies, interacting with animals in the petting zoo, and getting their faces painted. They munched on cotton candy, snow cones and pizza, while their parents sampled treats from Asia Restaurant and the recently opened Mozart Café. Other tenants - such as GetMed Urgent Care, 3D Learner Inc., Boca Integrated Health, Apollo Transportation, Bernie's Cleaners, and Marc Rosen, DCPA - also participated.
Likewise, visitors enjoyed strolling the walking paths and foot bridges that are part of the plaza's pedestrian-friendly central garden courtyard area. "Lush landscaping, as well as waterfalls and fountains, make the setting particularly picturesque and inviting, and we were very pleased to welcome the community to benefit an important cause," said Zvi Schwarzman, managing partner of Boca Medical Plaza, LLC, the plaza's new ownership group. The development and construction veteran also owns ZVI Construction, which continues to supervise the custom build-outs for all new and renewing tenants at Fountains Center, where he and his team have increased occupancy from 47% to over 80% in a matter of months.
"Breast Cancer has a profound impact on Floridians as the state ranks second in the nation for the number of new breast cancer cases and third in the number of related deaths," said American Cancer Society Community Representative Audra Cardillo. "Events like the Fountain Center's Holiday Family Fun Day and other community partnerships play a vital role in rallying the community together to raise funds and awareness in the fight against this disease."
The dollars raised for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer will fund breast cancer research, provide up-to-date breast cancer information, ensure all women have access to breast cancer screening and treatments - regardless of income - and to provide services that improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The American Cancer Society has become the world's most effective breast cancer-fighting organization. Today, one in every two women newly diagnosed with breast cancer reaches out the Society for help and support.
