Fotor Introduces V5.6.0 for iOS
With the imminent release of the new Fotor Mobile version, I was afforded an interview with designer David Wang who explained to me not only the new features of this rapidly developing mobile app, but also his inspiration and the challenges he overcame during its production.
- (1888PressRelease) March 05, 2015 - Fotor has already established itself as one of the leading edge photo and image editors. Its growth from relatively humble beginnings is a testament to its ease of use, unique and powerful features and an unparalleled number of effects and filters. Fotor's ability to develop software that retains appeal and functionality in a rapidly changing digital world is a result of a specialized and enthusiastic international team, whose drive is to remain firmly on the leading edge of photo editing.
'Since commandeering the development of Fotor, I have strived to provide our users an opportunity to awaken their creativity' - David. Mobile photo and image editing have always been important functions for both hardware and software developers. As the mobile market continues to expand, the need to stay on the leading edge places huge pressure on individual apps to appeal to an ever-growing user base and to remain fresh and unique.
'…Our filters are unique to Fotor… we try and make up for what other editing apps lack'. With a background in directing and producing short films, David and his team developed the 'Mono' and 'Cinematic' filters for release with the new version. Designed to highlight a captured emotion or feeling, David explained his motives behind these effects, with: 'I wanted to inject deeper feeling… a human touch to our app'.
While excited about the new filters, the most significant new feature of the new Fotor version is the 'Focus' effect. 'While most photo editors simply use a 'blur' effect to emulate true 'bokeh', the new Fotor version manipulates depth of field and focus area to both sharpen and soften an image'. Bridging the gap between professional and amateur photography, 'focus' represents the most significant development for Fotor, and perhaps for mobile photo editing in general. 'We were not satisfied with the limitations of other photo editor's effects; we wanted that special cinematic feeling... and we wanted it 'user friendly'.
On top of these new features, filters and effects, Fotor continues to sport a simplistic and innovative UI, with a continuously expanding free content. 'The UI of Fotor is the key to its popularity... user friendliness really is a main focus for us'. With David at the helm and a young, driven team at his disposal, we will no doubt see some very exciting developments to come. 'The new versions of Fotor will have some surprises, some things we have never seen before'
After interviewing David and meeting his team, I have no doubt.
