Former Segerstrom Charitable Liaison To Head Caterina's Club
Rita Redaelli To Join Sir Bruno Serato To Raise Funds For Nonprofit Benefiting "Motel Kids".
- (1888PressRelease) April 09, 2016 - Rita Redaelli, who has dedicated much of her career to working with nonprofits, has been named director of development for Caterina's Club, a charitable organization started by restaurateur Sir Bruno Serato, to feed and house Southern California's "motel kids." In her new position, she will work closely with Serato and the board of directors to increase donations necessary for carrying out its mission. Among her responsibilities are developing and cultivating relationships with individual donors, reaching out to foundations for grant awards, spearheading various fundraisers and galas throughout the year and working with the Caterina's Club team to formulate other ideas and strategies.
Her background includes having been selected by South Coast Plaza founder Henry Segerstrom to serve as its company's community and charitable representative. Career highlights include serving as president of ExplorOcean, executive vice president of the Arthritis Foundation Pacific Region, vice president of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and executive director of Girls Incorporated of Orange County, where she transformed and grew what was a grassroots organization into one of the most successful affiliates in the nation. She also served as director of marketing for South Coast Plaza and worked as a consultant for various organizations including Fairplex, home of the LA County Fair.
"We are so delighted to welcome aboard someone with the credentials and experience needed to help take Caterina's Club to the next level," said Serato, who founded the nonprofit named after his mother more than a decade ago. "Rita's tremendous talent, intelligence and warmth as a human being are a perfect fit for our team."
The process to fill this important position was conducted by Los Angeles-based Michelle Whiting & Associates, a nonprofit executive search company whose efforts have resulted in placements at more than 70 organizations throughout the country.
Caterina's Club, which feeds 6,000 "motel kids" each week, was founded by Serato to ensure that the region's most vulnerable population - its children -- receive a hot meal before they are tucked into bed each evening. In addition to the nightly meals, Serato has begun placing some of these families into homes of their own. His charitable work has earned him a knight ship from Italy, CNN Hero Award, Humanitarian Award from Congress and countless other forms of recognition. He has been featured in major magazines (People, Elle, Vogue), television ("CBS Evening News," "EXTRA,") and newspapers (New York Times, Los Angeles Times, OC Register) countless times.
