Former NJ Superior Court Judge Marqus D. Jones, Jr. announces his intention to join award-winning New Jersey family law firm, Weinberger Law Group.
Ocean City, NJ (1888PressRelease) June 06, 2015 - Former NJ Superior Court Judge for Ocean County, Marquis D. Jones, Jr., recently announced his intention to join award-winning New Jersey divorce and family law firm, Weinberger Law Group.
After a decades-long career in public service, culminating in his role as a Superior Court Judge, Jones, has returned to private practice as a family law attorney.
"I am deeply appreciative of my time spent serving as a member of the New Jersey judiciary, where I had the opportunity to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of children and families in my courtroom. Now I have the opportunity to represent their best interests as a family law attorney," Jones said in a statement.
After working in military intelligence for 11 years, Jones attended Rutgers University then Rutgers Law School, graduating with his J.D. in law in 1994. Jones worked as an attorney in private practice for a number of years before entering public service in 2003 when he was appointed Deputy Attorney General for the New Jersey Office of the Insurance Fraud Prosecutor (OIFP). The New Jersey Legislature installed Jones as a NJ Superior Court Judge for Ocean County in January 2008. He was one of only two African Americans to serve on the Ocean County Superior Court bench at the time. Jones served until January 2015. During his tenure, Judge Jones presided over Family Part cases and was designated lead Children in Court Judge. Jones also sat in Civil Court where he presided over landlord tenant, small claims, special civil courts, and law division motions.
Jones will be working out of Weinberger Law Group's Mount Laurel office, where he will be accepting consultations in all family law matters, including divorce, child custody, alimony and military family law matters.
