Petty is excited about bringing the benefits of ActionCOACH’s systems and strategies to the businesses of NE England and Cumbria.
(1888PressRelease) July 03, 2008 - Master Licensee Ian Christelow has named Ian Petty as an ActionCOACH in England.
Petty’s office will be located in Cumbria, which is close to the English Lake District National Park. He will be practicing throughout the regions of NE England and Cumbria.
An ActionCOACH presentation piqued his interest in becoming an ActionCOACH.
“The turning point came at a later date when I attended the master licensee's annual seminar and training day in January. I was impressed by the people I met and the energy and enthusiasm displayed by the attending coaches,” he said.
After 18 years in a highly commercial corporate shipping company working an average of 70-80 hours per week on a regular basis, ActionCOACH was able to show Petty the possibility of a better, more rewarding way of making a living.
Petty started his career as a Navigating Officer in the British Merchant Navy and progressed to the position of Marine Director of the Shipping Services Division within the James Fisher Group - UK's largest provider of Marine Services.
Over the past 18 months, Petty has formed part of the management team responsible for the successful integration of 12 additional ships into the James Fisher fleet following a £50 million acquisition of its closest competitor.
“Since 2000, I have been responsible for the operation of the Group's Offshore Fleet of Oceangoing Cable and Dive Support/Construction vessels as well as the negotiation of several major offshore contracts leading to successful offshore projects,” he said.
Petty believes that there is no better place to learn the true meaning of teamwork than at sea.
“Days or even weeks away from the nearest assistance, the crew of a ship are uniquely reliant upon each other both in routine operations and in an emergency,” he said.
Petty’s experience at sea will be beneficial for his new role.
“I believe my experience negotiating with and providing customer service to a variety of demanding corporate clients alongside the management of my own team provides me with a unique combination of skills that when applied in conjunction with the ActionCOACH systems and strategies will bring significant benefits to my clients in the development of their businesses,” he said.
After working long hours, Petty is looking forward to this life-changing opportunity to regain balance and control so that he can spend more time with his family, whilst helping other business owners achieve the same goal.
Petty has participated in regular charity challenges on behalf of local and national charities, including the 40 mile Keswick to Barrow walk, the Keswick Challenge -a triathlon of mountain hiking, cycling and canoeing, and the 24 Peaks- which involved hiking 24 peaks each over 2400 feet within 24 hours.
Petty is a member of the Nautical Institute, the Society of Industrial Leaders and the Business Networking Institute.
