Former Atlanta Falcon & Atlanta Braves Legend Brian Jordan to Host 8th Annual Charity Weekend Nov. 1-3 to Benefit Brian Jordan Foundation
Foundation provides scholarships, literary initiatives and health & fitness programs for children; Star-studded events open to participants and fans to mingle with numerous celebrities.
- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) October 16, 2014 - Two-sport superstar Brian Jordan is hosting multiple events around Atlanta from Nov. 1-3 to raise funds and awareness for the Brian Jordan Foundation (BJF). The mission of the 501c3 non-profit organization is to discover the excellence in every child by creating and supporting programs for children and their families that will directly improve their quality of life. The foundation is dedicated to building healthy minds, strong bodies and supporting places to grow. The weekend includes several events that are open to those interested in participating, as well as ticketed events for the general public.
Among the numerous celebrities confirmed to appear at events throughout the weekend include baseball legends Ozzie Smith, Marquis Grissom, Tony Womack and Javier Lopez; football legends Warrick Dunn, Victor Green and Terrance Mathis; and basketball legends Julius "Dr. J" Erving, Kevin Willis, Dale Ellis and Theo Ratliff.
Jordan, who is one of the only athletes ever to have been named as an NFL All-Pro and MLB All-Star during his three seasons in the NFL and 15 seasons in the MLB, founded BJF in 1998. "As a veteran of two professional sports, I fully understand and appreciate the ability of athletes to positively influence and impact society," said Jordan. "This weekend allows me an opportunity to give back to my community and impact the lives of children in a positive way."
The weekend events include:
- Saturday, Nov. 1 @ 6:30pm - Bowling 4 Literacy - Compete against the pros in bowling, billiards or ping-pong to win prizes. Held at Dave & Busters in Lawrenceville (5900 Sugarloaf Parkway)
- Sunday, Nov. 2 @ 7pm - Draft Party at the Wine Pavilion -Enjoy drinks, dinner and entertainment at an event with Jordan and the other celebrities at Chateau Elan in Braselton (100 Rue Charlemagne). There will also be an opportunity to bid on amazing, one-of-a-kind items at a Silent & Live Auction.
- Monday, Nov. 3 @ 10:30am - Two-Ball Scramble Golf Tournament at Chateau Elan - The shotgun start will have celebrities paired with each foursome and there are spot prizes throughout the course.
For 15 years, BJF programs have helped many kids realize the dream of a college degree, taught them the fundamentals of baseball, equipped hundreds of young children for back-to-school and encouraged countless others about the importance of reading.
