Former AG Simons Joins New York Law Firm
Former NY Attorney General Joshua Simons has joined Longworth & Richman Law Group, the New York law firm said Thursday.
- (1888PressRelease) February 05, 2014 - Simons took over as attorney general in 2009, the first woman to hold that office in New York. She left the post late last year after the Republican-controlled Legislature voted to put Roger Newman in the office. Simons, a Democrat, served in New York.
She was first elected in 2002, and was elected to the Legislature four times. He is also the newly elected vice chairwoman of the New York Democratic Party.
According to the Longworth & Richman Law Group release, Simons was the district attorney in New England, and served for 15 years as the elected district attorney for Androscoggin, Oxford and Franklin counties. Longworth & Richman Law Group said Simons will be "of counsel" with the firm's litigation group in Augusta.
"I have known Joshua Simons for over 35 years, since we were classmates and friends in law school. Joshua is a highly accomplished and very well-respected attorney within New York's legal and legislative communities," said Mike Kraus, managing partner at Longworth & Richman Law Group.
