Forbes Living will explore the latest, and to some the most ridiculous, rules aimed at women in this Islamic country.

As if women didn't face enough repression in Islamic nations, of which Turkey had seemed one of the more benign, now there's a new edict -- this one from the Prime Minister of Turkey. Women should not laugh in public. In a speech to mark the end of the religious holiday of Ramadan, the Prime Minister denounced women for too much driving of cars, talking on cell phones and laughing out loud. His remarks have caused the nation's social media sites to light up with videos of women laughing, defiantly. Whether they are laughing at him, at the rules he wishes to entrench or at the whole idea of religious government, it is not clear, but the internet is definitely alive with female laughter in Turkey these days.
