- (1888PressRelease) October 07, 2011 - Port Jervis resident, Anne Horsham and her friend Donna Carver may wear Shaving Cream Hairdos to raise awareness of Spina Bifida and funds for The Spina Bifida Resource Network (SBRN). Ashley Decker may also be called upon to become a human target for a water balloon attack. Other participants will perform crazy dares at the 2nd Annual "Walk for Empowerment" event happening on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at Thomas Bull Memorial Park at 10:00 am in Montgomery, New York. This walk and the funds raised from the "Dare to Be Aware of Spina Bifida" Campaign will support SBRN's services for the families who live with Spina Bifida in the Hudson Valley area.
The "Dare to Be Aware" campaign is hosted by www.mydunktank.com, and is an online fundraiser where donations are made towards a dare or task. The dare that wins the most funds is the one performed. Participants in the campaign will perform them at the Walk for Empowerment, which is free and open to the public. In addition to the 2-mile walk and live entertainment, there will be fun activities, a free family picnic, and a tricky tray auction with various prizes and giveaways. SBRN and its members are calling for participants to join in the outdoor fun, exercise, and social activity. Bring the whole family and help a good cause!
Pre-registrants are encouraged to raise pledges. Register online, at www.thesbrn.org, and create a custom pledge page to help raise funds for the non-profit's services that are expanding to the Southern New York State area.
