Powder Metallurgy Parts Association, the premier trade association for world-class component producers in North America, elects John F. Sweet to serve as president.
Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) February 15, 2014 - John F. Sweet, PMT, president of FMS Corporation, Powder Metal Division, was recently elected president of the Powder Metallurgy Parts Association (PMPA). The PMPA is an association of approximately 50 top powder metal (PM) component manufacturers in North America. PMPA member companies combine to produce over 90 percent of the PM components used in North America.
"I am honored to serve as the president of PMPA. It is the premier trade association for world-class component producers in North America," says Sweet. "In this new role, I will continue to support end-user education on the advantages of powder metallurgy, the fastest-growing metalworking technology today."
Sweet is a member of ASM International and has served in the MPIF (Metal Powder Industries Federation) Standards Committee, the Board of Directors of the Center for Powder Metallurgy Technology, and the Board of Directors of APMI International. Sweet joined FMS Corporation shortly after receiving his B.S. in materials engineering from Drexel University. He gained experience through various positions in the organization before being appointed to his current role as president of the Powder Metal Division. He and his wife Paula and their three children reside in Edina, Minnesota.
PMPA
One of six associations of the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), PMPA's objectives are to establish efficient management and foster free competition in the manufacture, distribution and sale of powder metallurgy parts. The association evaluates and overcomes problems impacting the powder metallurgy industry. PMPA promotes a wider utilization and advancement of quality parts made from powder metals.
