Florida Restaurant Providing Free Meals to the Homeless Launches Holiday Fundraiser Amid Governor Desantis NonIntervention
Queens Restaurant of Orlando has been feeding the homeless for free. Today the owners launched a nationwide fundraiser to continue providing free meals to their less fortunate neighbors.
- (1888PressRelease) October 18, 2023 - The renowned eatery will host The Great Holiday Crab Feast, Saturday December 9th in Orlando. They have a campaign goal of $50,000. All You Can Feast Tickets are $75+. Earlybird tickets are on sale beginning October 17th.
Queen”s has proudly served its community independently and without any donations from its patrons. The restaurant owners shared the meals program costs $7,000 per month. The business needs to pay their past-due food invoices for past meal giveaways.
As tourism declined the restaurant ran into financial trouble that resulted in layoffs and the possibility of ending their free meals program. The owners turned to the crowdfunding giant GoFundme for help and then added a special event.
“Orlando residents are living on the street in the heart of the city. “When we opened we didn’t realize how many people were living right outside our establishment said Yvette , one of the owners. “Our Governor is running for president and many Floridians are choosing between eating or not eating on a daily basis. Its going to take more than just him and so we’re intervening. Florida is a rough place to be homeless. I never thought there would be families with small children but they are also out here. We need help and we need it now” Please do what you can. We appreciate your support and prayers.
