Florida Golfer Aces Par Three to Win $21,000

Michael Kelly’s ace on the par three 3rd at Hernando Oaks Golf and Country Club in Brooksville, Florida on May 16th earned him $21,000, Swing King’s highest Florida cash prize and the second highest in the company’s history.
A three-decade long construction worker, Kelly says he has paid $10 before his regular Saturday golf game for a year and a half, an amount that would earn him $20,000 if he holed out on the third hole at the club. In fact, he says, three of his regular foursome pay to compete in Swing King’s hole-in-one contest every week as well. “You never know when you can get lucky!” The additional $1,000 was the result of Hernando Oak’s automatically including all eligible rounds for another $1,000 prize.
Asked about his winning shot, Kelly says one of his foursome, Jimmy Wright, told him the hole measured 158 yards that day. “I went straight at it with a choke 6 iron. I told the boys ‘you better watch this’. It sure did look good going in!”
