  • (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2012 - Radisson Hotel Kandla, the first 5-star hotel in the Kutch District, a part of Gujarat state and India's largest district, recently opened its doors for business and leisure travellers. Located at Rajvee Complex, Airport Road, Galpadar, Gandhidham, Kutch Gujarat India, the 117-room hotel is just minutes away from the Kandla airport the Gandhidham railway station. It is also close to Kandla port, a major maritime hub in Gandhidham city and an important trade center for India, particularly with the salt industry in Gandhidham accounting for 40 percent of the country's salt production.

The whole property is interestingly divided into two buildings; the hotel building which has the hotel rooms and the club building built with clubhouse concept strictly for members and hotel guests. Club building facilities include a swimming pool, a fully equipped health club and spa, changing area, indoor play area, tennis court, an all-day dining restaurant and a specialty Indian restaurant are some of the dining options. For business events and other functions, a state-of-the-art 15,000 sq ft of pillarless banquet space can fulfil your needs. The hotel rooms feature a 42" LCD TV, high-speed Internet connectivity, coffee/tea maker, iron/ironing board and electronic safe. All rooms and public areas also offer high speed Internet access.

The hotel's interior design was helmed by DBTA International, a Singapore-headquartered interior design consultancy firm providing professional expertise in the hospitality and leisure industry. Its roster of hotels and serviced suites project span from South East Asia, China, India, Middle East and Central Asia. Its latest project, Radisson Hotel Kandla, further boosts the firm's portfolio of luxury designed interiors offering functionality and smart use of space.

Described as an 'oasis' for its magnetic charm that now serves as one of Kandla's main attractions, the Radisson Hotel Kandla's design inspiration was rooted on nature's 'strength and warmth'. The interiors 'marrying' with natural surroundings without being over stated can be seen with the stylish use of waves, rock, and water in many of the design patterns and the use of materials such as stone and timber in dining rooms and lounges.

The breathtaking architectural design of the main lobby features a double volume ceiling that is accentuated by a majestic crystal chandelier. It is hoisted on a super high ceiling that also allows guests staying in their rooms to have an instant view of the main lobby, a smart architectural design that serves multiple objectives. On another part of the hotel, the floor and ceiling design seem to follow the same medley as free flowing, elegantly designed floor and ceiling patterns seem to mirror each other. The use of colours and lighting further amplifies this section's dramatic effect.

This latest addition to DBTA International's fleet of interior design projects are earning raves from guests and industry observers alike. While Kandla may have been known for its port, and all the preconceived notions that come with it, the Radisson Hotel Kandla offers a welcome development for locals and international travellers looking for high-class hotel comparable to the ones in New York, Paris, London and the likes.

"Our design philosophy has always been to deliver unique design concepts while combining habitable works of art within cultural diversity," says David B. Tokiwa, Managing Director of DBTA International.

"Radisson Hotel Kandla is one of the best examples of that philosophy as we took into consideration culture and natural beauty in creating our design concept. What we came up with is a distinct and luxurious design that Kandla, and its people, can be proud of."
