First Female Leaders in Travel Conclave hosted at Le Blanc Cancun
A conclave of 23 Female Travel Leaders from 18 agencies throughout the United States & Canada met at Le Blanc Spa Resprt in Cancun to discuss issues facing female leaders in the travel industry and to share ideas, advice, and support.
- Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton, PA (1888PressRelease) August 14, 2019 - The first Female Leaders in Travel Conclave, comprised of 23 travel advisers holding leadership positions at 18 travel agencies in the United States & Canada, met at Le Blanc Spa Resort in Cancun from July 25-28, 2019. The agents in attendance have a combined total of over $600 million dollars in annual sales.
The purpose of the conclave is to form a collective group of ambitious women that unite together to share ideas, tackle issues, gain skills, seek advice, and become a powerful voice in the travel industry.
Organized by Jennifer Doncsecz (President of VIP Vacations) and Vanessa McGovern (Co-Founder & CEO of Gifted Travel Network), and with discussions led by Jennifer Cochrane (Co-Founder & COO of Gifted Travel Network), the weekend consisted of daytime sessions about negotiation practices, leadership skills, practicing mindfulness, and personal experiences & lessons that have contributed to their success.
In the evenings the conclave was hosted for dinners at Hyatt Ziva Cancun by Howard Tanenbaum (Senior Vice President of Sales, Playa Resorts), Alex Andrade (Vice President of Operations Mexico, Playa Resorts, & Bethany Ward (Director of Online Business, Playa Resorts), and at Secrets the Vine by Maru Suarez (Regional Commercial Director, Mexico Caribbean North, AM Resorts), Rosalinda Rodriguez (Senior Manager, US Business Development AMSTAR), Armando Canela (Director of Sales, Secrets the Vine), & Yamina Bermudez (Head of Weddings, Secrets the Vine).
The Female Leaders in Travel Conclave was honored to present the first Luminary Award to Sra. Dolores López Lira (General Director at Grupo Lomas) for her exceptional leadership and for overcoming obstacles facing female leaders during her nearly 4 decades in the travel industry. During an interview conducted by Jennifer Doncsecz, Sra Dolores Lopez Lira described the difficulties her and her co-founder husband, José Martínez Alday, have faced over the past 38 years of running Lomas Travel, as well as the gender discrimination she encountered & overcame to become one of the top DMC companies in the travel industry.
The conclave was brought to a close on July 28th at a special dinner hosted by Le Blanc Cancun where the women, bonded by the events of the weekend, shared stories, ideas for the future, and words of encouragement.
“This conclave’s goal was to form a collective group, comprised of females leaders in travel, to share insights, best practices, and develop strategies to support each other and further leadership positions for women in the travel agency arena, which I feel is desperately lacking in our industry,” said Jennifer Doncsecz. “This first conclave was a huge a success and we hope to host another conclave next year!”
While women leaders in the travel industry continue to face unique challenges due solely to their gender, it is the hope of the Female Leaders in Travel Conclave that women can ban together to help each other grow as leaders and gain a stronger presence in the top positions in the travel industry.
