Great Ideas Entertainment has begun production on a documentary about the filmmakers challenge contest starting in May in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) April 10, 2007 - Great Ideas Entertainment has begun production on the Filmmakers Challenge. Filmmakers Challenge is a documentary and behind the scenes look at the contest that takes 1,000 filmmakers (5 groups of 200 each) through 10 challenges over 21 days, to give 1 the opportunity to make their low budget movie. That 1 will then get 10 days and $10,000 to make their feature film.
Rich Owens, the CEO of Great Ideas Entertainment, is the creator of the Filmmakers Challenge. Owens said he came up with the idea for the contest as a way to distribute films and build production credits through his company, while giving some aspiring filmmakers a chance to be creative. In addition to Owens, the challenge is being produced by Ryan Yerrick, Tad Atkinson, and Sal Vasquez, in association with several corporate sponsors and partners.
Entries for the challenge are currently being accepted, and is open to the general public. Anyone interested should log on to the website www.filmmakerschallenge.com to read the rules and regulations, and get information on the in-person interviews. Former production materials such as short films or commercial reels are not needed for entry. "We are more interested in what someone can do, not what they did before," said Owens.
Great Ideas Entertainment just recently completed the feature film Foursome that is set to be distributed through a distribution agreement with Blockbuster. The company is also in pre-production on two mutli-million dollar films, Counterbalance and Actorz, which are set to begin filming yet this year.
