Every autumn, enthusiasts and collectors flock to the French capital for the International Contemporary Art Fair (FIAC), one of the major events on the arts scene.
Seasoned and first-time visitors from across the world head to Paris's Grand Palais to see and perhaps buy the work of young, emerging artists.
Displays, stalls and exhibitions, as well as a series of events held concurrently with the FIAC, allow you to take a closer look at pieces of modern and contemporary art.
One of the most important annual events in Paris' contemporary art scene, the FIAC showcases work this year from 165 international galleries and over 2,500 artists at three locations on the city's right bank. A "galleries' night out event" brings dozens of the city's smaller galleries into the heart of the event.

Every year, the FIAC-- an international contemporary art fair based in Paris and consecrated to the work of some of the globe's most exciting and provocative artists-- attracts thousands of collectors, amateurs and admirers to joint exhibits at the Grand Palais and the Louvre Museum in Paris. The 2009 show, the FIAC's 36th annual edition, brought together over 200 exhibiting galleries and more than 4,000 works, and the feeling of excitement on the floor was palpable.
Household-name artists such as Louise Bourgeois and Mondrian were being shown alongside the work of young and upcoming artists like Pamela Rozencrantz. The main exhibit at the Grand Palais, featured in this gallery, focused on painting, photography, sculpture, and other "traditional" mediums, while at the Louvre and Tuileries, outdoor multimedia installations and performance pieces turned the staid gardens into an edgy space showing off some of the more daring works in this year's show.
If you appreciate Contemporary Art you'll find plenty to love or hate in Paris during the FIAC - International Contemporary Art Fair. This annual event brings together anyone with a finger on the pulse of the art scene, from seasoned artists, to collectors and gallery owners from across the world. Paris is a magnet for the creative arts, making it the perfect host for one of the world's top contemporary art fairs. Step into the galleries of the Louvre and the Grand Palais to see exhibitions and instillations that are interactive, colorful, unusual and inspiring.
