FedEx Named as a Top Giving Company by Leadership Expert Will Marre
Top leadership consultant, Will Marre, spotlights FedEx for their corporate giving strategies. By incorporating giving into their primary business model, FedEx wins in the minds of employees and consumers alike.
- (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2010 - FedEx is spotlighted this week as a company who places giving at the heart of its business. Will Marre, leadership expert and CEO of Realeadership Alliance is honoring FedEx as part of his Giving and Winning series in which Marre is showing how successful companies are becoming unbeatable through strategies that are good for the community as well as the wallet.
Marre's list of Giving is Winning companies stems from his extensive research, 21 Companies for the 21st Century, being conducted with Clemson University and the University of California San Diego on what successful companies are doing in today's challenging environment that average companies are not. Drawing on data research, executive interviews and in-the-trenches client projects with many of today's thriving companies, Marre makes the case that "when giving becomes an essential part of your culture, employees are inspired to create more value and consumers choose you."
According to Marre, FedEx is a leader in the winning is giving philosophy. Working with the relief organization Heart to Heart International, FedEx has established four global forward-response centers to pre-stage relief supplies that can be quickly transported to people affected by a disaster. These centers allow Heart to Heart to get supplies where they're needed immediately (anywhere in the world within 24-72 hours). Each center is stocked with 60 to 80 pallets of basic relief supplies: shelter, drinking water and medical supplies. The stock is automatically replaced once deployed, which takes advantage of the efficiency of our network. In 2007 alone, FedEx helped move $107 million in medical supplies to impoverished areas around the world.
Another initiative of FedEx is in the weeks leading up to Christmas, FedEx will deliver approximately 15,000 real Christmas trees to more than 50 military facilities in the United States and overseas as part of the 2010 Trees for Troops program.
Marre encourages consumers to support giving companies. He states, "This Christmas when you need to ship your Christmas presents, use FedEx and have your dollar count for more."
