- Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) April 29, 2011 - With the mission of encouraging fitness and healthy lifestyle choices at all stages of life, FearlessPhilanthropy (www.fearlessphilathropy.com) will host Atlanta's first-annual People's Health Day on Saturday, July 30th 2011. The event will kick off at 9:00am with a 5k race from GA Tech to Piedmont Park, where festivities will include, live music, kid's games, local and national health food vendors, stretching and exercise sessions, as well as raffle prizes. The award ceremony for the race will begin at 10:30am, followed by the wellness-inspired entertainment throughout the day. Admission to the event is free and open to all ages, and food tickets will be available for purchase on site.
In addition to healthy food stores and local restaurants, there will be an array of fun events to get people active. Fitness experts will be on-site to demonstrate ways that exercise can be integrated in the bustle of daily life. In each of several yearly events that FearlessPhilanthropy hosts, the objective is to educate people about a different aspect of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs (physiological, safety, love, esteem, and self-actualization). As the non-profit's debut event, People's Health Day will celebrate the foundation on which the quality of our lives depends: Health, which is considered a safety need in the Hierarchy.
"It's no secret that exercise and proper nutrition help us lose weight," says founder, Jeff Brown. "But we often don't realize the direct connection between physical fitness and mental health. As the health of the body improves, the efficiency of the mind follows. This results in a new perspective that allows a person to realize their true potential." In a nation overwhelmed by health concerns, Brown believes Atlanta is a good place to begin that effort.
