FDM Group is delighted to announce it sponsored the 'Best Development Project' award at the University of Brighton for the fourth year running.
- (1888PressRelease) July 27, 2012 - As part of its ongoing commitment to making a positive change to the UK's IT skills shortage, FDM Group, is delighted to announce it sponsored the 'Best Development Project' award at Monday's University of Brighton's Prize Giving Ceremony for the fourth year running.
The prize, which was the biggest of the day, was awarded to three promising students for the 'Best Development Project from a Final Year Student' studying Computer Science with Gaming; Samuel Edwards, Paul-Michael Sorhaindo and David Lee.
FDM has a long-standing history with the University of Brighton with six of the company's senior management team graduating from the university, and CEO Rod Flavell sits on the university's Employability Ambassador Committee.
Alex Linssen, FDM Trainer and MSc Programme Coordinator who presented the prize on Monday said, "It is fantastic to continue our support and relationship with the University of Brighton. I am honoured to have presented Samuel, Paul-Michael and David with The FDM Prize; they are all bright students with very promising IT careers ahead of them.
"We truly believe in the dedication that the university has in developing the talents of their IT students. We have developed an MSc in Applied Computer Sciences in partnership with them, which is designed to broaden the qualifications of FDM Trainees and Consultants."
Flavell said, "Through our various joint projects with the university, we are thrilled to have been able to sponsor this prize for the fourth year. We look forward to continuing our work with the university and welcoming Brighton alumni to our graduate programme in the future."
FDM offers graduates the opportunity to undertake technical training in five streams from Project Analysis to Java and .Net Development, which is then coupled with a two year placement on-site with one or more of FDM's clients in order for graduates to gain critical commercial experience.
Having launched the IT careers of over 3,000 graduates worldwide, and having pledged to hire an additional 1,000 graduates this year alone, FDM is the UK's largest IT graduate employer, and prides itself on its unique business model.
Flavell continued, "It has always been our aim to overcome the catch-22 of academia and employment, which is too often encountered by so many of today's graduates."
FDM is an international IT services provider and started its journey in Brighton, which hosts its headquarters. FDM now houses nine offices internationally across the UK, Europe, USA and Asia Pacific and was recently placed in the prestigious Sunday Times International Track 200 for the first time.
