FC Richmond Scores Big with adidas Partnership
Chesterfield County-based youth soccer program will benefit from increased exposure to college coaches and top-level tournaments.
- (1888PressRelease) March 09, 2016 - RICHMOND, VA - FC Richmond and the Club Champions League (CCL) announced today that they have signed a partnership with adidas® and, through that, now receive Generation adidas® (GA) and Generation adidas® International (GAI) benefits. The partnership, which begins at the start of the fall 2016 season, establishes the CCL as the first and only Generation adidas® league in the history of adidas®. FC Richmond is Central Virginia's only CCL club and will be the area's only beneficiary of this unprecedented partnership through 2024. FC Richmond will now be an official adidas® partner club with Generation adidas® benefits. Outside the CCL these benefits are limited to only 16 clubs representing the most elite youth soccer organizations in the country.

"This is truly extraordinary for the development of our coaches and players and gives new opportunities for our elite players to compete on a national and international stage."
FC Richmond, a Chesterfield-based youth soccer program with more than 2,500 athletes, now has the opportunity to send elite players to compete in the world's most prestigious national and international events. Currently five FC Richmond athletes are vying for a position on the U17 boys and U17 girls CCL select teams that will compete in this summer's Gothia Youth World Cup in Sweden facing teams from over 80 nations. FC Richmond will be able to nominate athletes to a CCL select team that will compete in the GA Cup, a Major League Soccer (MLS) elite tournament reserved for US Soccer Development Academy teams, and Generation adidas® partners only. Additionally FC Richmond athletes will have the opportunity to compete for positions in the GA ESP showcase which brings 80 of the nation's top high school players together during the MLS all star week to train and play under the guidance of some of the world's top coaches.

FC Richmond has produced 14 National Team/Pool players, one U.S. Olympic Team player, one HS National Scholar Athlete of the year, and over 20 professional players. The CCL is an elite level youth league formed in 2013. From 1997 to 2012 the league operated as the Virginia Club Champions League (VCCL). In 2013 the league expanded to include 16 distinguished soccer clubs from Virginia, Maryland and Washington DC. In addition to FC Richmond, the league is now comprised of Arlington Soccer Association, Beach FC, BRYC, DC Stoddert, FC Frederick, Fredericksburg FC, Lee-Mount Vernon, Loudoun Soccer, Maryland United, McLean, Potomac Soccer Association, Roanoke Star Soccer Club, Soccer Organization Charlottesville Area, Southwestern Youth Association and
