Father's Day Jazz Brunch - Beta Omega Social Services
We honor fathers and/or father-like mentors. Also, we continue our tradition of awarding scholarship funds to young people transitioning to college during the event.
- Washington, DC-MD-VA-WV (1888PressRelease) June 17, 2018 - Beta Omega Social Services, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. On Father's Day, we are providing a brunch experience for those who grew up with or without a father. We honor fathers and/or father-like mentors. Also, we continue our tradition of awarding scholarship funds to young people transitioning to college during the event. Many of our attendees come out to honor fatherhood and celebrate life with their family and friends. Many community supporters that give back and support at-risk youth attend for mentorship. Attendees show support by purchasing tickets. Their support helps young people that experience fatherless. Come out for brunch with us on Father's Day. Enjoy a live band and plenty of food.

About our scholarship: We founded our scholarship after the passing of Michael J. Gilbert. He was a devoted father that was a member of our organization. Michael was a single father who deeply loved his daughter, Lauren. After Michael’s untimely death in October 1994, Beta Omega began the Michael J. Gilbert Scholarship Program (MGSP) to honor his commitment to Fatherhood and Scholarship. We awarded the first Michael J. Gilbert Scholarship to Lauren Nicole Gilbert in 1998. The MGSP has since grown into a funding opportunity for DC area students seeking additional funds for their education. Since the inception of the fund, we have provided more than $75,000 in scholarships to deserving DC area students in pursuit of higher education. This year's brunch will take place on Father's Day, June 17, 2018, at the Kellogg Conference Center at Gallaudet University, 800 Florida Avenue NE, Washington, DC from 12 pm until 3:00 pm.
